Well... I sat down last night to do some left hand exercises... not even sounding any notes... to try to start getting some finger independence and control. I really need to stop dicking around and just DO this. This is why I am so afraid of scales, aside from just not really understanding how the patterns "fit".
I'm using Jamie Andreas' book on proper practice. I'm sure there is merit to his methods, but GAWD it's boring and ungratifying at first do just sit there trying to get fine motor control. Oh, well. Guess I just need to bite the bullet.
The WORST is my left pinky. I have so little control over it. I hope it's not the effect of an old elbow nerve entrapment. But I can overcome this. I just need to stick to it and have some successes.
