I just want to add more to this and say that the more the Occupy movement meets opposition, the more sympathetic I feel toward them. I think (and correct me if I'm wrong) that these protesters are doing much more than the protesters of the 70's to keep things non-violent. I watched the videos of the UC Davis pepper spray incident and feel sickened. That doesn't mean I'll be joining my local branch of the Occupy movement (especially because, since this area is so liberal, it almost seems silly) but I now firmly support these people, even if they're just protesting the police brutality.

Since when did this country become a police state? Why are people throwing obstacles at these people? I understand that protesters can be a nuisance sometimes, but really? This was a blatant misuse of police power. The lieutenant systematically made sure each of the protesters was covered in pepper spray and a few of the students had to go to the hospital. For sitting.

Here is a link with photographs and the videos, if anyone hasn't been keeping up with the news about this (which would surprise me, as it is everywhere):

Also I haven't been keeping up with current political debates but the complete impasse in being able to figure out a compromise for reducing the country's debt is incredibly frustrating. When did we elect children into office? I am sick of hearing, "Oh, it's because the other party won't do this, blah blah blah." I'm disappointed in all the elected officials. When the country needs it most and is crying out for change, what do they do? Point fingers. When is someone going to take some responsibility and try to fix this country?
