Love what Lemony Snickett wrote!

There is an Occupy Vancouver going on here as well. Probably not as high profile as in other parts of the world, but it's there. It seems to consist of all sorts of protesters but the main theme is the ever-widening gap between the rich and the poor.

Here's a link my friend sent me:

I must admit that I'm kind of torn. While I do agree that the richest people should be taxed more (why they aren't has never really been explained to me in a satisfactory way), I also think that a number of people are in the spot they're in because they buy too much useless crap. We have become a society who can't differentiate between wants and needs and as a result those people are in debt up to their eyeballs. On the other hand, people who have been out of work for god knows how long...how are they managing to live? Especially in America--no disrespect to our American 'Scopers:)--where there is little if any affordable medical care (but that's another topic).

Regarding the protesting....part of me does wonder what good it does do. But the way I look at it is if it gets people thinking and talking about this whole situation, then it can't really be a bad thing.
